4.6 Szolgáltatás-menedzsment

Nemrég ünnepelte a Youtube a 10 éves fennállását, és ez alaklomból olyan statsztikákat hozott nyilvánosságra, mely megdöbbentő tárolási kapacitást és kiszolgálási képességet mutat. A tárolás ilyen méreteknél nem csak a Youtube-ot érinti. A Nemzeti Audiovizuális Archívum, mely már PetaByte méret felett jár a tárolásban - léptékben természetesen kisebb mértékben -, de ugyan azokkal a problémákkal szembesült mint a Youtube.

• Hogyan lehet megvalósítani egy inkrementálisan növekvő videó és a hozzá tartozó metaadat tárolást?
• És egyáltalán hogyan működik egy archívum PetaByte felett?

A NAVA törvényileg előírt feladata a magyar nemzeti műsorszolgáltatói kötelespéldány-archívum működtetése. A kötelespéldány-archívumban az M1, M2, Duna, RTL Klub, TV2, Kossuth rádió, Petőfi rádió, Bartók rádió 2006. január 1. óta sugárzott magyar gyártású vagy magyar vonatkozású műsorai található meg.

A kötelespéldány-gyűjtés mellett a NAVA megőriz és az úgynevezett Különgyűjteményekben hozzáférhetővé tesz további audiovizuális tartalmakat is.

Video and metadata over the first PetaByte

NAVA (National Audiovisual Archive of Hungary) constitues the legal deposit archive of the Hungarian national broadcasters. Its scope of collection comprises the programmes of the national broadcasters produced in or relating to Hungary. In addition, NAVA also maintain special collections by accepting any other audiovisual content facilitating the preservation of audiovisual content as part of the cultural heritage.

What is the different between TerraByte and over the first Petabyte? How does Petabyte sorage work? What is the problem over the PetaByte? How does NAVA work?

More and more EU member states are establishing or have established similar archives. The tendency is for a single central archive to store the programmes of all the major national television and radio stations, irrespectively of the broadcasters’ own archives. For example, in the United Kingdom the BFI Film and Television Archive receives a copy of each BBC programme, even though the BBC also operates its own archive. However, the NAA established in Holland in 1997 works as the central archive for all Dutch broadcasters. Activity is not regulated by laws or regulations in every country. In France and Sweden regulations stipulate the provision of a legal deposit, while in Holland and the United Kingdom, for example, collection is carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded between the broadcasters and the archives, approved by the state.

The other observable main trend is that these central archives primarily serve public research; theyonly serve production and reutilization secondarily. We met public library service, as the basic function of these institutions in each examined case. It is a secondary and technological issue whether on-line or off-line services are provided. However, the trend is clearly towards on-line services and thus should be applicable to us, too.
